Jan 28, 2025 | Navigating the insurance landscape in Los Angeles County right now is no easy task, especially with the recent fires shaking up the market. But don’t worry—we’re here to break it down for you.
🔹 The Current Situation:
Many insurance carriers have paused new policies in Southern California, including areas untouched by fires (like Orange County and San Diego). It’s called a moratorium, and it’s creating hurdles for buyers in escrow who thought they had coverage lined up—only to get that dreaded call: “Sorry, we’re not writing policies right now.”
🔹 Good News:
There ARE still carriers writing in LA County! The key? Work with a broker like Mary Kate (M.K.) Thomas, who can access multiple carriers and find the best options for your specific needs.
🔹 Fire Containment Update:
Both the Eaton and Palisade fires are over 95% contained. While we’re not quite at 100% yet, things are improving, and it’s a sign of hope for those impacted.
